Vishnu Lakshmi Brass Diya, Wax Cast
Description
Lakshmi and Narayana together are the divine couple of preservation and prosperity. Worshipping them as one is a long-held tradition, especially during Diwali, Dhanteras and Friday puja.
The DivyaMandir Vishnu Lakshmi Brass Diya brings them together in a single lamp. Lord Vishnu’s crowned face rises above, flanked by the Sudarshan Chakra and the Shankh. Below him, four-armed Goddess Lakshmi sits on a lotus. The wide diya bowl is carried on the raised trunks of two elephants, a traditional symbol of abundance.
It is made by the wax casting (lost-wax) process, which captures the fine detail in the crown, the lotus petals and the elephants’ ornamented blankets. A light antique finish settles into the recesses and lets the detailing stand out against the warm brass.
The bowl holds ghee or oil with a cotton wick, so the lamp is made to be lit. At about 10 cm tall, it suits a mandir shelf or a puja platform.
